Mariage Pagé x Girard

Bonsoir,
Je recherche le mariage de Sergamée Pagé avec Joseph Girard (Esprit et
Léocadie Breton). Sergamée est morte avant le recensement de 1901.
Joseph Girard est né aux Éboulements en 1865. Le couple a eu un fils
né en 1897. En 1901, Joseph Girard vit à Montréal.

I have no argument against calling it want you want. I almost never use
the word "genealogy" to describe my activities. I use "family history"
because I think it has a broader, less-academic connotation and that
reflects the approach that I use when investigating my ancestors.

Some of us don't have large families with close cousins.
My grandmother's brothers & sisters had no children. Her
family is my main line of research. Through my research, I found
a 3rd cousin once removed and a 6th cousin once removed.
The three of us have worked together for years. I recently
met a 4th cousin. Since there are no closer cousin relationships

So doesn't it then stop being genealogy and start being something else -
archeology with an appropriate adjective?

IMO, it's all in the eye of the beholder. To me, a 7th cousin is not
"meaningless"; to my wife it is. From a genealogical perspective, I'll
admit 7 generations is starting to get long. From an anthropological
perspective, 7 generations is only the flick of an eye. Along a direct
paternal line, a man's Y-haplotype is apt to exist unchanged for thousands

The son of your first cousin is your first cousin one removed. This is
because you are in a different generation. The son of your first cousin
and your children are second cousins.

I hear what you say, but I'm not quite sure that knowing any seventh cousin
adds to the sum of human happiness; it's either an academic exercise, or an
exercise in futility. This is where I part company with genealogy 'pure et
dure'; the relationship is so diffuse as to be meaningless

P.S. In transcription it seems (might be my oversight) that always the
modernised version is given. E.g. été versus ete and prisonnier versus
prisonier. I'm just trying to read what the deed says and afterwards try

Thanks, that really is a nice suggestion. I changed the transcript to
this with "cette ville" between round brackets. Makes the sentence far
more understandable, thanks again.
