Most likely this will be caused by the button hitting the edge of the hole
in the grid. Then if you take off the grid it will not stick. If it still
does, then look for friction on the sides of the key or the valve pads
rubbing together. BTW never use powdered graphite on an accordion. IF you
need to lubricate wood parts, rub with a pencil or sometimes on metal,

I recently acquired a Meinel & Herold Button Accordion (3 Row Treble)
and it plays and sounds ok but 2 of the buttons are 'sticking' and
leaving the note open. The button lever moves ok but does not return
(could it be a spring problem?). I thought that I would have a closer
look at the the button lever mechanisms to try to find the cause of

Thanks for the pictures you sent. Some of the ideas for the bass look
quite solidly, but require more modifications than I would like.
Putting magnets or contacts on the pallets themselves right in the
airpath is not something I would want to do: I actually just returned a
historic instrument that had, possibly after being modified, too narrow

Consider myself just asking. Mail address used here works.
I think you are misreading the specs. The switches are not supposed to
dissipate 20 Watts themselves, but rather are suspected to sustain 20W
loads, with peak current of 1/2 A when closed, and a peak open voltage
of 175VDC when open. 20W light bulbs are more or less spec.

Hm? There are no moving parts in them. And they certainly have a life
time larger than 3 years. It is more likely that you blew them with bad
supply voltage or bad load. Or that the magnets got weaker.
The main disadvantage I see with them is that they are comparatively
expensive.
Personally, I've been idly wracking my brain over schemes that don't

New out of the box they have problems.
Finding a good used accordion gets more difficult as years go by, as most
have never been properly serviced.
