Onderwerp: 2 years after Accutane...
Hey group *wave*
Ok, I've haven't been around for almost two years (sorry for that) and now I'm back. And not even for the right reason... After struggeling with acne for many years I fianlly took Accutane in 2001. For 4 months and I occasionally posted here telling about that and the skin was ok after that. Still, ofcourse, huge scarring and taken MSM for that for a longggg time with no visible results I could notice. Anyway, with no acne I was happy enough about that! Then about 3-4 months ago my skin started to become more greasy it seems and I started to have zillions tiny zits about everywhere... not visible I must admit. They're not red, just tiny so I didn't pay much attention to it... About 3 weeks ago I started to have every 5 days about one big red zit which would come overnight and fade away a few days later. That's not right; I blamed the food, so... who knows that could've made a difference on how my skin was reacting (denial?). Now the worst part: in a matter of 4 days the skin has become again one big disaster. Huge red lumps along the jawline and a few in my neck. I can count today around 8 new ones and they're red, think and big. My forehead is covered with tiny little ones which can hardly be seen (fortunately) and today I woke up with 4 new active volcano-like red spots on my shin and cheeks :-( Where the f*** did those came from? It's like I stepped in a disruption of the time continuum and put back 3 years again! There haven't been any major changes in nutricion or any thing. The skin was fine during the summerperiod al along and for 3 years everything was fine. Made an appointment again with a dermatologist which is scheduled for in 8 (!) weeks. Later I'll try to convince them of the urgency, but I doubt I'll have any luck. Anyway, sorry for the long post (*grin*); I got frustated (more than I normally am ;-) ) so I fled into writing about it. Greetz, *grr!* Je moet je aanmelden voordat je berichten kunt plaatsen.

Hi Thur,
Yuck. Sorry you are having a rebound. The small bumps almost sound like rosacea but I say that only because that's Yes, food can be a trigger and it can happen suddenly, without warning. Take care, Je moet je aanmelden voordat je berichten kunt plaatsen.

English isn't my that's > how my rosacea manifests. mothertongue, so bare with me ;-) There are at the moment three kinds of 'outbreaks'. The first one has been there for longer: they're just tiny (non-red) zits. They don't bother me thát much, just that the skin looks as if there are a lot of tiny scars. The second one, which started 4 weeks ago, is the typical pimple. A red bump that grows as a red active volcano. Ending up as a whitespot (sp?), they're just ugly. The third kind came up a few days ago... reading again some of the posts here I believe the actual term are 'cysts'. Underneath the skin comes a red mark which feels like a big lump, they just don't grow and then go away. They just grow and sit there being big red and ugly. Those are the ones that worry me most and they're along the jawline. They tend to disform the whole skin and are the kind I had before the Accutane. Thát's the worrying part ;-) > Yes, food can be a trigger and it can happen suddenly, without warning. Been there, done that ;-) I haven't changed since my Accutane treatment > Especially if you've developed an allergy to something you've been eating > for awhile. What do you eat? Any supplements? anything. The normal vitamin C supplements. I've been thinking about any changes, there just haven't been any. I had a week or so of regular snacks which I blamed for the increase of the zits. So I stopped that (it was just a week or 2). I can't trace back this new explosion of horror to anything. > mineral deficiency to show itself. I can control my acne by avoiding I think I'll grab back to a diet I did before the Accutane treatment anyway sugar, > nuts and B vitamins. that brought down the swelling a bit. It wouldn't hurt and I lost some weight, which is always nice :-) I would have guessed that after a Accutante treatment (I was very enthusiastic about it and recommend it since) I wouldn't be faced with this problem again (at 24 :-/). Thanks for your reply :-D Greetz, *sigh* Je moet je aanmelden voordat je berichten kunt plaatsen.

As long you don't kill the demodex mites it will come back, If you take a hi
dose of acutane there becomes a lot of changes in your skin which makes it very difficult for the mites to survive, les sebum production is the biggest reason for this and in this way acutane is indeed working, it makes the sebaceous glands making produce less sebum and other changes, that makes it for the mites very difficult to survive, maybe they even disappear but you get them back anyway if you don't take precautious from other people.
